Deputy Sheriff

Deputy Sheriffs deliver community-minded service. Our team of deputies serves both the rural landscapes of Benton County and the urban centers of the St. Cloud area. Your responsibilities would include general duty law enforcement work to protect life and property and enforce state and local laws and ordinances throughout Benton County.

Applicants must have a minimum of an Associate degree in Criminal Justice and must possess or be eligible to obtain a Minnesota Peace Officer license upon hire.
Shift hours are bid based upon seniority
10-hour shifts: 7 am to 5 pm, 11 am to 9 pm, 5 pm to 3 am, and 9 pm to 7 am
Yes, you must pass pre-employment testing and obtain First Aid/CPR, Use of Force,
PREA, and Taser Training within 1 year of hire, and obtain Force, BCA training, Portal’s
training, and OC certification within 6 months of hire.
Detention Officers

The responsibilities of our female and male Detention Officers include the control, observation, and supervision of inmates to ensure the maintenance of security, safety, operational rules, and policies of the Benton County Jail. A specific benefit to this position includes the ability to retire with full benefits as early as age 55.

2026 Salary Range: $31.61 – $43.36/hour
